UWE Stadium Approved

It was the day all Gasheads had been waiting for, South Gloucestershire Council approved the plans for the new UWE Stadium.

After a long debate Councillors voted 12-1 in favour of the scheme at a meeting this afternoon. The new 21,700-seater stadium will be built on land next to the Frenchay campus of the University of the West of England. If consent is given by Bristol City councillors to a new Sainsbury`s store opening on the site of the Memorial Stadium, then Rovers should start Building the UWE Stadium in January 2013.

If all goes to plan Rovers could be kicking off the 2014-2015 season in the 21,000 all seater UWE Stadium.
