Kenneth Deal Close

Kenneth Deal Close

Mark McGhee is close to signing central defender Garry Kenneth.

The 25 year old is a free agent after running his contract out after eight years and over 150 appearances for the Scottish Premier side. McGhee faces competition for the centre back from a few clubs including Glasgow Rangers, but its understood Kenneth is keen on a move to England.

McGhee is keen on securing a couple of defenders after its looking less likely that Leicester City duo Tom Parkes and Cian Bolger will be joining Rovers. Dundee United rejected a £50,000 offer from Blackpool last season as they believed Kenneth to be worth closer to the one million mark, Birmingham City were also keen on the defender. Kenneth has represented Scotland at Under 19, Under 20, Under 21 and full International level.
