Sandell Sinks Rovers

Former Bristol Rovers midfielder Andy Sandell scored the only goal of the game to confirm Rovers second league defeat of the season.

The Newport line up included a few ex Rovers line up, Chris Zebroski, David Pipe and as well as Sandell the scorer all were in the Newport starting line up. unfortunately defender Byron Anthony was out injured after breaking his leg in two places.

There was plenty of heavy tackles coming in from Newport, but it was a foul by Rovers captain Tom Parkes that led to the only goal of the game. Christian Jolley was a judged to have been fouled in the box by skipper Tom Parkes, then former midfielder Andy Sandell slotted home from the spot.

Rovers did get better after the break and looked a more attacking force when Ryan Brunt returned from injury. Rovers are 20th in League Two and next face York City at The Memorial Stadium next Saturday.
