Manager John Ward was forced into one change to the side that beat Buton at the weekend. Oliver Norburn came back into the side to replace the injured Joe Anyinsah.
Exeter City had a few familiar faces in the starting line up with Jamie Cureton, Pat Baldwn and Danny Coles all ex Rovers players. Rovers started will creating the better chances, Tom Parkes saw his header tipped round the post by the keeper whilst Elliot Richard shot just wide. The opener came from a mistake from the Exeter Goalkeeper Artur Krysiak as he failed to hold on to Ollie Norburn's low drive and it slipped in to the net.
Exeter did improve in the second half, but were still limited to goal scoring chances as Rovers kept Exeter top scorer Jamie Cureton quite. Rovers wrapped the game up with 10 minutes to go When left back ale Brown scored a stunning 25 yard strike to put Rovers 2-0 up. Rovers moved up to 15th in League Two after the latest win.
Next up for Rovers is a trip away to 14th placed Chesterfield. If Rovers win the can go above them in the table.
