Rovers Earn Three Points

Bristol Rovers

York City

The Memorial Stadium

Attendance: 5,569

Bristol Rovers secured their first win of the season beating York City 3-2 at The Memorial Stadium.

Rovers were dealt an injury blow before kick off when striker Eliot Richards was withdrawn after suffering a hamstring injury, it thought the injury will keep him out for around four weeks. Rovers handed a first start to youngster Alfie Santos on the wing. It was a great start for Rovers when David Clarkson volleyed home after just three minutes and it was Clarkson who doubled Rovers lead firing home from close range.

York reduced their arrears four minutes before half time when defender Lee Brown blocked a shot from Bowman and Jarvis was on hand to slot home. Bowman had only been on the field for three minutes as a sub for Wes Fletcher and two minutes later he was sent-off for a penalty area bust up with Captain Tom Parkes who received a yellow card for his part in the bust up.

Jarvis then pulled 10 man York level from the spot after Mark McChrystal was adjudged to have pushed in the area. Rovers took the lead again with some good football, the impressive Tom Lockyer played the ball out to Alfie Santos who centred the ball for O'Toole to fire home.

Rovers moved up to 17th in League Two and next face Northampton Town at The Memorial Stadium next Saturday.
